Beaumont Castle

Belgian Castles

Auto Draft

Beaumont Castle is situated on a hill above the town of Esneux, south of the city of Liège, in the province of Liège in the Wallonia region in Belgium.

Beaumont Castle was first mentioned in a document dating back to 1154. It was a small fortress on the Beaumont Plateau. It dominated the village below it and guarded a stretch of the Ourthe river. The castle didn’t have a long history as it was described as ruinous in a document from 1277.

This is all I was able to find about its history. If you know more, please let me know.

At present nothing more remains than some low walls. The entire site is very much overgrown although there was a small, fenced off, part where presumably excavations had been taking place.
