Monfort Tower, locally known as Tour de Monfort or Monfat, stands above the city of Dinant, in the province of Antwerp in the Flemish region in Belgium.
The first tower at this location already existed in the 13th century. It was repaired between 1438-39 but finally destroyed in 1554, during the Italian War of 1551-59, by Henry II of France.
Between 1906 and 1908 the tower was reconstructed as a belvedere, probably on the foundations of the first tower. It is this tower that we see today. It was damaged during fighting in Agust 1914 and again during artillery fire between American and German forces in September 1944.
At present Monfort Tower is situated on the grounds of an abandoned recreational park and can not be visited. A nice tower offering great views over Dinant.
